Apple Fritters with Salted Caramel Glaze A slightly lighter take on donuts with a delightful sweet and salty glaze. Ingredients1 cup flour 1 tsp cinnamon 1 egg 1/4 tsp baking powder 2 tbsp sugar 1/4 whole milk or buttermilk 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp salt 4 large apples 4 tbsp (or more, depending upon how much glaze you want!) Lovers' Leap Sea Salt Caramel Vegetable oil for frying InstructionsIn a bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, sugar, nutmeg and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Then, combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well blended. Slice the apples (without peeling) into 1/4 inch rounds. Use a cookie cutter as a hole punch to remove the core. Meanwhile, heat up the oil on medium heat until you start seeing ripples in the oil. You'll know it's ready when you take a test pinch of batter and drop it into the oil and it starts to bubble up around the batter. When the oil is ready, dip the apples one at a time into the batter, shaking off the excess. Carefully drop the fritters into the oil and fry for about 2 minutes, flipping halfway through, until a golden brown color. Remove and place on a paper towel lined plate. Once all fritters are fried, heat up the Lovers' Leap Sea Salt Caramel either on the stove or in the microwave until thinned. Drizzle over the fritters while they're still warm and enjoy. Dust with powdered sugar if you desire.
